Burnout is a real issue, and not only individuals experience it alone; sometimes it occurs collectively within the workspace. We believe that taking breaks or vacations may help in overcoming this feeling, and it is likely to work for some. However, when the problem affects the majority, a resolution for the group needs to be found. With the holidays approaching, now is the perfect time to introduce traditions in the workplace. What better way to do this than by organizing activities such as game nights, happy hours, ice cream socials (with dairy and non-dairy options, of course), and much more. The goal is to shift focus away from work and engage in activities that allow you to bond with your team better.

For starters, you'll probably want to set up a team meeting to see what everyone else prefers when it comes to bonding. When dealing with multiple communication styles and personalities, you never want to assume that everyone enjoys the same activities. By doing so, once everything is set in stone, no one feels left out or uncomfortable, especially since the point is for all team members to enjoy themselves. I want to say that many of the activities that you all agree upon could take place within the work environment, and on some occasions, that'll be okay. However, I believe that you should probably let the first team-building activity take place outside of the office (unless the weather prevents that option).

To all the leaders out there, something I want you all to keep in mind when spending time with those you work with is to remember to be yourself; take the leadership cap off and really allow people to get to know you. In my experience with work functions, everyone always seemed to have a better time when it felt like the person in leadership was actually being themselves and allowing others to see their personality.

In the context of work functions, the impact of genuine leadership is even more pronounced. When leaders drop the mask and showcase their true personality, it humanizes the work environment and encourages others to do the same. This authenticity can lead to stronger bonds, increased trust, and enhanced collaboration within the team.

And if we're being completely honest, aren't we all able to be more productive when the work environment is more harmonious? I'd also like to add the fact that having these functions regularly improves the way that your team will communicate with each other. I know I've said this in a previous episode, and I'll say it again, communication will always be a key component in almost everything you do in life. Being able to bond with your colleagues outside of work gives you the opportunity to understand them better; it will open your eyes to their behavior at work(as in the way they think or their methods of completing task).

If you feel as though your business could use a bit of a pick-me-up, I really hope you take these options into consideration to help spruce up your colleagues' morale. You don't want the new year to start off with old energy, and the best way to ensure that doesn't happen is to organize some celebration; this will also show that you have appreciated everything that they've done throughout the year.

To those who aren't business owners but would still like a shift in the work environment to take place, maybe suggest it to your leadership department. Sometimes all it takes is for one person to take the initiative in setting the tone for new beginnings

We've come to the end of today's episode, I hope these tips help you as we close out this year and enter the new one. Have an amazing Friday and we'll chat again! =)
